UX/UI Designer Position Keywords: analysis of 10 Linkedin posts

To land your dream job, they advise using language that hiring managers use. I scanned 10 LinkedIn job postings to find the most used keywords for UX/UI positions.

In every career development course, they say to use language that HRs and hiring managers are using. For application to some companies, it can be crucial as they use specialized software to check CVs on compatibility even before a real person would see it.

As I’m in the job searching process myself, I decided to take this advice literally and scanned 10 UX/UI designer job postings to find the most used keywords and the most common requirements.

I thought I would share the results of this tiny research as it can be useful in many ways:

  • for those who are planning to switch from another field: to have an overview of requirements;
  • for UX/UI designers with some experience: to look in what area you want to improve yourself;
  • for both: use some phrases for your CV and LinkedIn profile to be on the same page with HRs;
  • any other purpose you can think of.

Some notes before you dive in:

  • Some of the phrasings repeated throughout all the postings, so I unified them. In this case, there is a grey number after the skill/process.
  • I tried to place them in order of the actual process when applicable (but because the UX/UI process is a loop, some of them may seem not logical from some points of view).
  • These are parameters from postings for UX or UX/UI designers around mid-level (in most cases 3+ years of experience, but there was one for 1 year and one for 5+, but the requirements were pretty much the same, so I guess the difference is really in the mastery level).
  • To get more information on what clients are looking in the UX/UI designers, I recommend this article.
