Present your concepts to the client the right way

The presentation is a great way to communicate ideas and concepts successfully to the client. Here are five tips for an excellent structured presentation of your work.

It doesn’t matter if you present concepts for print design, product design, website design, or any marketing materials. In any case, in the presentation, you will show your client your train of thought and give more context for further discussion. Here are some tips on what to include in your presentation.

Show the outcome in the "wild nature"

Show websites and applications on the corresponding and suitable devices. The presentations, the social media images, and the print materials also look better in the natural environment rather than on white background. The more realistic the environment is, the best impression of the final product you'll reach.

Add the feel to the look

Help the client dive into the mood you're aiming for. Relevant images, illustrations, color palette, words, and phrases – use everything applicable to the project. In some cases, it's a good idea to put together a mood board or style scape. But keep balance and don't go into details too much: you need to leave room for feedback and movement.

Reasons, reasons, reasons

Explain everything so that you can have a fruitful discussion after. Neither you nor your client has to rely on guesswork. It will make the process longer and less effective. Why did you choose this layout composition? How do these colors help the product? Why these types of illustrations? And how does the font influence the impression?

Business-talk

Speak your client's language: appeal to their audience and business/marketing goals. How will the work be perceived, and to which outcome will it lead? Talk about how your solutions will attract user attention and lead them to a desirable action. Also, it's a good idea to share some options for A/B testing.

Plan for success

Give your client an estimation of time effort. You can share the project's timeline, showing which steps you'll need to take and which stakeholders to involve in each step. Here you can also add any relevant technical information and requests.
